Tenn Inventors Assoc TIA meeting at Tech 2020

The Tennessee Inventors Association is an organization in East Tennessee dedicated to supporting and promoting independent inventors. TIA members are from Knoxville and Oak Ridge. Some members come from Chattanooga, Cleveland, Bristol, Johnson City, Morristown, and other East Tennessee areas. The TIA also has members from as far away as Ohio and Virginia. The Tennessee Inventors Association is a great resource for inventors, innovators, and entrepreneurs.

Upcoming meeting

The TIA is holding monthly, in-person meetings again.

Our next meeting is Thursday, June 9, at 6:30 pm. We will be meeting at the Karns Community Club Center at 7708 Oak Ridge Highway, Knoxville, TN 37931.

Fred Martin will be our presenter this month. Fred is a patent agent and a lecturer at The University of Tennessee.

The primary goal of the TIA is the advancement of technology throughout Tennessee with its accompanying economic growth. Toward this end, TIA provides information, guidance, and encouragement to those involved in innovation. It is a chartered non-profit organization in the State of Tennessee composed of inventors and other persons interested in the innovation process.

The TIA membership includes independent inventors, small business developers, engineers, and scientists from state and federal research and educational facilities. The span of technical expertise and inventions ranges from high-tech to low-tech, from lasers to games to cat toys. Other TIA members are from business-related fields and are available as consultants to the other members. For example, we have patent agents and patent attorneys as members, and we frequently have business attorneys and lawyers, model makers, graphic artists, modelers, designers, and others as visitors. Even if you do not have an invention, you are welcome to join the TIA!

04-03-2022 In-person TIA meetings are resuming. Our next meeting is Thursday, April 14, at 6:30 pm. We will be meeting at the Karns Community Club Center at 7708 Oak Ridge Highway, Knoxville, TN 37931.

07-17-2018 US Inventor, an inventor support group, has information on the current Inventor Protection Act that is being introduced in Congress. The IPA seeks to undo much of the damage that has been done with the AIA. But the effort needs public support to convince Members of Congress to Sponsor and support the proposed Bill.

09-21-2017 The date for the TNInventCon is March 3, 2018. The event will be held at the Blount County Public Library in downtown Maryville from 10am to 2pm.

04-20-2017 World Patent Marketing, a Florida based patent promotion company, gets nailed! A temporary restraining order was issued against World Patent Marketing for being “an invention-promotion scam that has bilked thousands of consumers out of millions of dollars.” The FTC charged World Patent Marketing with committing unfair and deceptive trade practices.
