The Tennessee Inventors Association sends a monthly newsletter to members and visitors. The newsletters contain notes on the previous meeting and information on other items of interest. Inventlist.comOur June 2014 speaker was Nick Haynes, the creator of the Inventlist website. Inventlist is website for inventors and investors to connect for business as well as for marketing their products to the public for sale. The site merely represents a middle man and free publicity to independent inventors.

The May 2014 speaker was Carl Papa, the TIA president. Carl discussed his successes and his not so successful attempts to manufacture and market the Pocket Pin High Pro golf aid.

April 2014 Andy Pokelwaldt

Andrew PokelwaldtOur April 2014 speaker was Andy Pokelwaldt, Program Director of Advanced Composite Employment (ACE) Accelerator Program at Roane State Community College. Andy spoke about carbon fiber and other composite materials being developed at his lab at the Oak Ridge Laboratory.

March 2014 Richard Steinle

Our March 2014 speaker was Richard Steinle, a local inventor. Richard presented his idea about shooting short videos about inventors and their inventions and/or ideas. The short videos could be combined to make a 30 minute segment that will hopefully be broadcast on local television.

February 2014 Dr. Paul Brady

Our February 2014 speaker was Dr. Paul Brady, an orthopedic surgeon who invented the "dog bone," a surgical device that is implanted in a weak shoulder to give the joint more strength.

January 2014 John Cleaves, inventor

Our January 2014 speaker was John Cleaves, a retired engineer. He spoke about his patent pending invention Table Top Conveyor.

December

December 2013 Holiday get-together

December is our member get together month for the TIA. The TIA met at Perkins Pancake House, 9507 Kingston Pike (Windsor Square Shopping Center), for a late breakfast/early lunch. No official business was conducted, but everyone got a chance to become better acquainted.

November

November 2013 Elections

The agenda for the November 23 TIA meeting included the TIA annual elections. Our featured speaker was Dr. H. Lee Martin.

October

October 2013 JR Charles and Kickstarter

The featured speaker for October was JR Charles. His presentation discussed Kickstarter as a funding tool. Also, the upcoming TIA elections were discussed. The TIA Elections will be held during the November meeting. We have many term limited officers and now is the time for members to step up and contribute to keeping the TIA the great organization that it is. The Ballot is published below. Nominations will be accepted at the October meeting.

September 2013 Dr. Lonnie Love and the Manufacturing Demonstration Facility

The agenda for the September meeting included a presentation by local inventor Mariano Ruiz and a presentation by Dr. Love and the Manufacturing Demonstration Facility at ORNL.
